How Does Sport Betting Work?

Sports betting is exactly what it sounds like. You place bets on sports and win an amount of money if the thing that you have put your bet on wins. If they don’t win you lose the bet.

Sports betting can be a way to make money or simply enjoy watching and competing along with the team. Before you start betting you must check if it is legal in your state. In most of Europe sports betting at casinos like Balkan Bet are legal, but in America, there are states where it’s illegal. Don’t be crazy and not check because you can go to prison for it.

Because there are so many different bets you can place here is a quick guide to help you get it:

Head-to-Head Bets

Head-to-head bets are a common way to bet if there are just two competitors like professional golf or NASCAR. This kind of betting is popular for sports like these because it is hard to pick just one winner and it is all about favoritism and luck.

Money Line Bets

Money line bets are when you are picking one team that will win without any point spread. This option is most popular for betting on major sports. But it’s primarily for baseball and hockey.

Total Line Bets

Total line bets are the second most popular bets. In this type there is a combined final score that is set for both teams and then you bet on the actual score. You are betting on if they will stay under or go over the set number. Because it is so simple it attracts mostly beginners.

Straight Bets

The straight bet is the most popular amongst big sports fans. It is also the most popular wager placed by big sports fans especially when it comes to sports like basketball and football. So the catch is, once the betting line, or as pros call it a point spread, you can either go with the underdogs and get the points or give them up by betting on the favorites. To cash-in, the favorite has to win the game by more than a set point. If you made a bet on the underdogs they will have to win or lose by less than a point for you to win the bet. If there is a tie no one will lose the money or win it, obviously.

Parlay Bets

This one is a little tricky so if you are a beginner maybe skip it. Parlay bets are basically you grouting together picks and putting them in one single bet. You can pick as little as two picks or up to twelve or whatever that casino’s limit is. The point is to beat the odds on the payout. It is adjusted based on the total number of the picks you’ve grouped together. It only wins if none of the sides are selected as a loser. The best of all you can still win if a game is canceled or it ties.

Before you go all in, do your best to learn how the bet works, you don’t want to lose money because you don’t understand. Don’t bet all your life savings at once. Maybe don’ spend it at all, but if you have an undying urge to, do it once you get the hang of the system and find a bet type you like.
